Immigrant Ships

                      By Luann DeVries

Immigrant Ships caring some of the first Colonists to the West Michigan area.
Specifically to South Ottawa County, and the Northern part of Allegan County.

  List of ships from:
'The Old Settlers' ' at 40th Anniversary celebration of founding of Zeeland, Michigan on August, 1887.

PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT have any information on passengers who appear on these ships' lists, UNLESS they
are direct line ancestors of my husband or myself. I also do not have any information on any of the ships themselves.

Many of these lists I am using here were originally compiled  by Edward  Prins, he focused mainly on the "Dutch", others on the ship may have been omitted by him at the time of his work. Therefore these lists should be used ONLY as a guide for further research.   For more detailed information on the "Dutch  Immigration Passenger lists", you will want to check out the Wonderful work done by Dr. Robert P. Swierenga.

NOTE: I have had several emails requesting where one might look for pictures and descriptions of sailing vessels.
Hopefully, you will find the following websites to be of help .

1.  If you know the rigging of the vessel, then you might find the Peabody Museum helpful.    www.pem.org/archives/maritm1.htm
2.  If you need to start from scratch in knowing more about your ship, you might find Maritime History Archive at the Memorial Museum of Newfloundland in St. John's of help.

3.  You might also investigate the Mystic Seaport Museum, Maine for researching:
