THE HOLLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GIVES PRIORITY TO PROJECTS WHICH:
* represent creative, innovative "cutting edge" efforts to address emerging or existing community needs or are capital in nature;
* promote cooperation among agencies without duplicating services;
* address prevention as well as treatment;
* obtain the necessary additional funding to implement and maintain the project;
* encourage additional and permanent funding or matching gifts from other donors;
* yield substantial community benefits for the resources invested;
* serve a broad segment of the community;
* address the following areas: arts, community development, culture, education, environment, health, recreation, or social needs.
THE HOLLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION DOES NOT FUND:
* annual fund-raising drives or ongoing operating expense of established programs;
* capital equipment such as computers, fax and video equipment, or vehicles, unless part of a larger proposal which meets the Foundation's priorities;
* commonly accepted community services already supported by tax dollars;
* endowments or debt reduction;
* camperships, conference attendance, or travel for individuals or groups;
* individuals, including sabbatical support;
* political projects;
* programs and services which promote specific religious philosophies (nonsectarian proposals from religious organizations will be considered).
THE HOLLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ACCEPTS GRANT REQUESTS FROM ORGANIZATIONS:
* which are tax-exempt private agencies, 501(c)(3) organizations under the Internal Revenue Code, or governmental agencies, in which case the limits of eligibility are more strictly defined;
* for amounts up to $20,000, although most grants will be smaller;
* for one-time only, specific purposes (limited to one proposal annually);
* for new projects which have not been previously submitted;
* located within the greater Holland area;
* which are equal opportunity employers and do not discriminate in the provision of services on the basis of race, gender, religion, marital status, age, national origin, or disability.
